The museum presents the fascinating and so little-known history of Polish divers to its visitors. It tells the story of swimmers who, during the reign of Stanisław August, cleared the Nemunas of stones so that it could be an alternative water transport route to the Vistula river. It shows the heroic attitude of those who cleared the port basins of mines, wrecks and debris, and also helped in the reconstruction of bridges and waterworks in the years 1945-1958. The museum shows what underwater archeology is.
Over 900 exhibits await visitors, including the equipment of classic divers from the 19th and 20th centuries. The oldest artifact comes from 1895. Admission is free.
